Australians for Ending Homelessness was formed in October 2008 by a range of bi-partisan, independent groups and peak bodies who all share the core aim of achieving a drastic reduction in the 105,000 people who are homeless on any given night.
These peak bodies/groups include: Homelessness Australia, Council to Homeless Persons (Vic), Youth Accommodation Association (NSW), Queensland Youth Housing Coalition, Homelessness NSW and WESNET (Women's Services Network).
To ensure that the most vulnerable in our community are protected we have developed a Five Point Plan that includes a range of targeted and practical measures to tackle and effectivley reduce homelessness in Australia;
1. A focus on early intervention and prevention programs that target family violence, family breakdown and children.
2. Boosting support services by 40% to reduce unmet demand
3. Annual research that directly encompasses all forms of homelessness
4. 250,000 additional units of affordable and supportive housing by 2020
5. Legislation that supports a unified response to homelessness and increased access to services.
To achieve these measures, we need your support. From simply registering as a friend of the campaign, to actively contributing or donating, your input will greatly assist the ability to do something real about ending homelessness in Australia.
The Youth Accommodation Association are strongly encouraging to register as a friend of the campaign.
