Allawah House
AH- Provides 24 hour supported accommodation and support for young women aged between 14 to 17, who are homeless or at imminent risk of homelessness for up to 26 weeks.
 
We believe it is a right for all young women to live in a safe, secure and caring environment. Therefore, we are open to all young women regardless to race, income or sexual preference.
 
Allawah House is committed to providing a service that supports the emotional well being of young women. Despite economic, cultural, social and environmental circumstances young women are entitled to opportunities that will enable her to participate fully in community life.
 
We value young women’s knowledge and skills and their right to a service which provides safety, confidentiality and privacy so her needs can be met in an environment that is conducive to personal growth.
 
Allawah House is a not for profit community based organisation run by women for women. We are funded under the supported accommodation assistance program (SAAP).
 

Referrals & Admissions
 
 
 You can contact Allawah House directly by telephone 24 hours a day.
 
 
When a referral is made, an initial risk assessment will be conducted over the telephone. A youth worker will ask some questions about the referring situation and whether Allawah House is appropriate for her needs.
 
Young women can also be referred by other agencies such as:
Educational Institutions
Juvenile Justice
Police
Docs
Health services
Telephone referral agencies
Youth centres
Other SAAP services
School
 
Once accepted into Allawah House, a case plan in consultation with young woman can be developed which will include a range of options that best suit her needs and wants.
